Description
The GUSB gene encodes beta-glucuronidase, a lysosomal hydrolase involved in the stepwise degradation of glucuronic acid-containing glycosaminoglycans. It is a tetrameric glycoprotein composed of identical subunits. GUSB plays an important role in the degradation of dermatan and keratan sulfates.
